MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – One of near-term objectives of the national health system is to reduce regional disparities in the distribution of health services, Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich said at the collegium of the Healthcare Ministry, BelTA has learned.
The minister emphasized that this should be done, among other things, through improving the quality and accessibility of health services in oblast capitals, 12 towns of accelerated development and referral hospitals.
Work is underway to remove differences in the facility infrastructure across the country, Dmitry Pinevich said. The Belarusian regions have recently received 12 MRI scans, 21 CT scans and 11 angiographs. Thanks to the measures taken, more stroke patients living in the regions could take advantage of neuroimaging examination. Their number rose from 78.1% in 2016 up to 89.3% in 2020, an increase of 11.2%.
