Key tasks of ongoing Belarusian army combat readiness test explained

GRODNO DISTRICT, 27 March (BelTA) – State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich has talked to reporters to explain the key tasks of the ongoing combat readiness test of Belarus’ Armed Forces, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Volfovich said: “A snap inspection of a number of army units has been launched according to a plan of the State Secretariat of the Security Council upon instructions of the president. Actions of duty units, permanent-readiness companies of mechanized brigades have already been checked. The companies have carried out their missions and demonstrated good skills in the course of carrying out their tasks. They were checked last week.”

This week the main stage of the overall test of military units of permanent-readiness mechanized brigades has begun. “A battalion tactical group of a mechanized brigade of the Western Operational Command has been set up and brought to combat readiness. Hardware was prepared for combat. The loading of ammunition was checked. The battalion marched to a military training area where it was instructed to repulse an unexpected crossing of the state border by the enemy, fire for effect at the enemy, pursue the enemy, eliminate it, and reach the state border. The personnel act confidently,” the official said.

The state secretary of Belarus’ Security Council stressed that attention is primarily paid to training standards of officers and soldiers of the tested units. “We focus on polishing skills for operation in modern conditions, on working out new forms and methods of warfare taking into account the special military operation in Ukraine. We check how the units are equipped with unmanned aerial vehicles, whether the personnel know how to use them against the enemy, and how they can defend against unmanned aerial vehicles.”

“Today every mechanized battalion has a unit dedicated to operating and fighting unmanned aerial vehicles. The arsenal includes various kinds of quadcopters: recon and strike drones. This is why we look at how the personnel operate and how well they are trained,” Aleksandr Volfovich added.

The final stage of the combat readiness test is taking place today. “Shooting skills will be checked as well as the accomplishment of practical tasks by the personnel,” the official said. “I think that the personnel will handle these tasks. They have been doing just fine so far. On the whole, the personnel are ready to carry out their missions.”
