
MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) - On 6-7 May, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will host an international conference “The Great Victory in the Name of Peace and Creation (marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War)”, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences.
The international forum will get together historians from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kursk, Smolensk, Tambov and Tula regions, Republic of Tatarstan, Chuvashia and the Chechen Republic, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Belarusian historical science will be represented at the conference by scholars from 55 Belarusian and 18 foreign organizations, including academic institutes, higher educational institutions, museums, archives, libraries, and schools.
The participants of the conference will consider modern approaches to the coverage of the events of the Great Patriotic War, international relations prior to and during the war; consider the key battles; recall the specifics of the Nazi occupation regime in the territory of Belarus and everyday life under occupation; the functioning of collaborationist organizations and the genocide of the Belarusian people; talk about the peculiarities of the partisan movement and the actions of underground organizations in Belarus; the preservation of historical memory and its memorialization; the contribution of the Soviet people to the victory over Nazism. Attention will be paid to the reflection of the history of the Great Patriotic War in the educational process in schools, specialized secondary educational institutions and universities.
The program of the conference provides for awarding diplomas to the winners of the 18th International Youth Scientific and Practical Conference “The Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 in the historical memory of the people”, which has been organized for 18 years by the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Gymnasium No.174 in Minsk. Over 100 students from all regions of the country and Minsk compete for awards every year.
The international conference “The Great Victory in the Name of Peace and Creation (marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War)” is organized in accordance with the plan of the events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazis and the Victory of the Soviet People in the Great Patriotic War. The organizers are the National Academy of Sciences, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Defense Ministry, and the Education Ministry.
