Interior Ministry: 2025 election campaign was the calmest in Belarus’ recent history

MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) – The recent presidential election campaign was the calmest in the history of sovereign Belarus, Deputy Head of the Law Enforcement and Prevention Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Sergei Mironchik said in the latest episode of BelTA’s project “The Nation Speaks”.

“It was marked by a high turnout and extensive outreach campaigns. From our perspective, this was the quietest, calmest election campaign in the history of sovereign Belarus,” Sergei Mironchik noted.

According to him, no gross violations of public order were reported. “Probably, it was largely due to our efforts [to maintain public order]. The situation across our southern border was also a factor in voters’ decision-making. They faced a choice: either they choose order, calm, security they have now, or they will have a situation like in the neighboring country [Ukraine]. These two factors contributed to maintaining order during the election campaign,” Sergei Mironchik added.
