Illegal migrants stage protest in refugee reception center in Lithuania

MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) – Illegal migrants staged a protest in a refugee reception center in the Lithuanian town of Rukla on 8 November. They demanded to be set free, the Lithuanian news agency Delfi reports.

The protest began in the afternoon on 8 November. A crowd of migrants stood with placards with images of the symbol of peace, the flags of Lithuania and the European Union, and the word Freedom on the other ones. The migrants whistled and shouted and demanded to be set free. Children's voices were also heard. The migrants mainly demanded to be allowed to leave for Germany and other countries of the European Union where their relatives and friends live.

Lithuanian border guard personnel cordoned off a larger area in response. During the protest border guard vehicles were moving in a pattern to prevent the migrants from seeing reporters and prevent the reporters from seeing the migrants.
