GRODNO, 6 February (BelTA) - Since the start of the year, Grodnoenergo has been implementing its own IT development - the information system Civil UAV Flight Log for planning flights, accounting for operators, controlling certification, and generating reports. It guarantees the complete safety and legality of all UAV operations, BelTA learned from Grodnoenergo.

The project has been recognized and the development received a first-degree diploma at the Digital Economy Leaders 2025 competition in the nomination Implemented Project of the Year in Digital Transformation (Energy category). The system is currently undergoing pilot industrial operation, with plans to scale it up to all enterprises of Belarus’ State Production Association of the Electric Power Industry Belenergo in the future.

In 2025, the branch “Enterprise of Dispatching and Technological Control Equipment” actively implemented digital technologies that changed the approach to diagnosing and maintaining grids, Grodnoenergo reported. A key project was the automated detection of faults on 35 kV and higher overhead power lines using drones and artificial intelligence systems developed by the branch’s specialists. Previously, this required labor-intensive route inspections and visual checks, experts explained. Since 2017, Grodnoenergo has been using UAVs for aerial photography and thermal imaging control. This method is particularly effective in hard-to-reach areas: forests, swampy terrain, or windblown areas.

Currently, specialists from the Digitalization Department and the UAV Sector of the “Enterprise of Dispatching and Technological Control Equipment” branch are testing AI for image analysis and creating a catalog of defects for 35 kV and higher power lines. It will include aerial photography materials from all regional unitary enterprises. In this way, the foundation is being laid for a new generation of intelligent diagnostic systems.
