Governor details patronage support for Gomel Oblast farms

GOMEL, 7 January (BelTA) - There was not a single work collective that did not receive assistance, respond, or fulfill assigned tasks for supporting the agro-industrial complex from patron enterprises, Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko told the media following his report to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 7 January, BelTA has learned.

The Gomel Oblast governor reported to the president on the fulfillment of instructions following last year’s meeting in Vitebsk, dedicated to the operations of agro-industrial organizations. One of the directives was the mobilization of labor resources from patron industrial enterprises.

“There was not a single work collective that did not provide assistance, respond, or complete the assigned tasks. Of course, it all depends on the collective. There are large collectives like BMZ and Mozyr Oil Refinery, where there are naturally greater capabilities both in labor and technical resources. But smaller enterprises are also ready to provide support with manpower. This is also relevant,” Ivan Krupko said.

Plans for 2026 include a serious replenishment of the technical fleet for the region’s agricultural enterprises. “One of the tasks set by the president is attracting labor resources to operate this machinery. Currently, we are staffing them with specialists from the Emergencies Ministry, the Gomel Oblast Internal Affairs Directorate, and others. We are forming a kind of combine operator team for about 20-30 machines that will operate during the summer period. The machinery will be stored on the premises of regional agricultural service centers and will be permanently assigned to responsible personnel,” the Gomel Oblast head said.

During the winter period, additional training on combine operation will be organized. “The machines are new and high-tech. The fleet is renewed annually, so it is important to improve qualifications and enhance the training level of the people who will operate them. All this will allow us to achieve maximum results,” Ivan Krupko said.

According to the governor, manpower support is highly relevant for the agro-industrial complex. “Labor resources are very much needed, especially from spring to autumn, from sowing and fodder harvesting to the grain harvest. During this time, work goes from early morning until late evening, so such assistance from patron enterprises will yield great results,” he emphasized.

According to Ivan Krupko, with the participation of patron organizations, efforts to establish proper order at agricultural facilities continue in the region. “In some places we are fencing areas, in others we are preparing for new construction projects. For the first quarter, we have planned the construction of about 30 prophylactic facilities, the procurement of materials, and the start of construction for silage trenches in preparation for fodder harvesting in May. Time is moving very fast,” Ivan Krupko said, setting the course for active and productive work.

The president also paid close attention to the regional situation in connection with the recent heavy snowfall. The governor reported on the current conditions and outlined an action plan in case of worsening weather conditions.
