"On Point"
MINSK, 3 August (BelTA) – Donald Trump's harsh statements against India will come at a high cost for the United States, political analyst Dmitry Kulikov said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
Earlier, the U.S. president claimed that the economies of India and Russia were "dead." According to the expert, such statements could significantly strain relations between the United States and India.
"Trump lashed out at India in a crude, vulgar manner. This will likely make India seriously reconsider whether it should continue engaging with the United States. Both Prime Minister Modi and the vast Indian electorate are deeply patriotic people who truly love their country. During the Cold War, India was the leader of the Non-Aligned Movement, balancing relations between the United States and the Soviet Union, maintaining cooperation with the former while fostering genuine friendship with the latter."
"Trump lost his temper regarding India and this outburst will prove costly for U.S. interests. You don’t speak this way to nations that value their sovereignty and are ready to defend it," the analyst concluded.
