"On Point"
MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – Ukrainian military personnel have long concluded that victory in the armed conflict with Russia is unattainable, Doctor of Military Sciences, Professor Nikolai Buzin said in a recent episode of BelTA’s V Teme [On Point] project.
Nikolai Buzin’s remarks came after Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko dismissed aggressive rhetoric from Kiev toward Minsk, stating that Ukraine’s military have no desire for a war with Belarus. The expert noted that the Belarusian leader has access to comprehensive information to support such a conclusion.
“There are various communication channels with the Ukrainian side, including unofficial ones, that allow us to assess what is happening in Ukraine and its armed forces,” Nikolai Buzin said. “It is no secret that the military are the least eager for war. They are the ones who pay with their lives.”
The expert said he is confident that Ukrainian servicemen are no exception. Moreover, he argued, the Armed Forces of Ukraine possess objective battlefield data. “They have likely calculated long ago that winning this war is impossible. Any further prolongation of the conflict will cost not just money, but human lives. Every day of war comes at a human price.”
According to Nikolai Buzin, one need not be a soldier to see that Ukraine will not emerge a winner from its war with Russia. “Someone else will profit on its behalf. But it is the military who best understand the reality and are pushing for a diplomatic solution.”
