MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) - The dissolution of the European Union is no longer a mere possibility but a necessity for its member states, Editor-in-Chief of the Words and Meanings almanac Elena Kondratieva-Salgueiro (France) said in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project V Teme [On Point].
The expert stated that EU countries themselves want the dissolution of the union, even if politicians do not admit this publicly. For example, in France, she noted, there is a view that a “Frexit” (by analogy with Brexit, the UK’s exit from the EU) is necessary, because it is the only way to improve the situation in the country.
“Otherwise, it is impossible to break, overturn, or, as the French say, sweep everything off the table and start anew. Everything that holds the EU together will not allow this. Neither stopping migration, nor ending punitive green energy policies. None of it. Nothing that could save individual states can be done without leaving the EU. This is an absolutely clear verdict; there is nothing that can be done about it. People are already speaking about it openly: it’s not even a taboo anymore,” Elena Kondratieva-Salgueiro said.
According to her, the fragmentation of the European Union is not just a possibility but a necessity. “It is beyond doubt that it will happen. However, it is impossible to predict exactly when the EU will collapse, because it has a complex system of protection. It works like the structure of a nuclear power plant: if one component fails, another immediately replaces it, and so on until the entire system collapses. So it won’t be fast. The Titanic didn’t sink in three minutes either,” the expert noted.
Elena Kondratieva-Salgueiro emphasized that globalism implies the participation of all countries in one system or another. But if states begin to isolate themselves within that system, it will inevitably collapse. “This is a certainty, not a prediction,” she stressed. “In what form it will continue to exist is another question. But the European Union, in the form in which it was conceived and has functioned until now, will not survive.”
