"On Point"
MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – Ukraine could become the detonator of a world war, independent military analyst Aleksandr Alesin said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“Ukraine could become the detonator not only of major European problems but also of a world war. This is especially true considering the rhetoric and position taken by the leadership of the European Union and NATO. Of course, the best option would be to resolve the issue in a way that stops this place from bleeding. Even if not for universal prosperity, then at least for the benefit of the Ukrainian people,” Aleksandr Alesin said.
The military expert noted that the fate of Ukraine is a matter of serious concern for, in particular, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, who sees Ukrainians as closest of kin. "I believe that Aleksandr Lukashenko considers the Union State to be incomplete without Ukraine. After all, Ukrainian land has given the world many wonderful, talented people who, in their time, built the Soviet Union," he added.
Thus, Aleksandr Alesin believes that the union of the three Slavic peoples could only strengthen the Union State. However, the military expert emphasized, Western countries do not desire this; they continue to supply Ukraine with weapons and do not wish for this conflict to end. And if the escalation of this conflict continues further, it could grow into a world war. This is especially relevant given the recent discussions of supplying Kiev with U.S. Tomahawk cruise.
