MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – Head of the Main Department for Vocational Training of the Education Ministry of Belarus Sergei Kasperovich told reporters about the cost of university for Belarusians and foreign students, BelTA has learned.
“Belarusian university students pay from $1,000 - $1,200 to $1,500 - $1,600 for one academic year. The highest tuition and fees are for medical education and some majors at Belarusian State University. The cost of attendance depends primarily on training costs. Tuition and fees for out-of-state students are twice as high, in some cases - 2.5 times higher than those for Belarusian nationals. For the most part, the language of instruction for foreigners is English, although Russia-language programs are also in demand at Belarusian universities. Again, if we talk about medical schools, their spending on training is really high, including the practical part and clinical training in hospitals. Foreign medical students have to pay up to $5,000 per year. But nevertheless, this education is in demand. And this is a very important point,” he said.
All in all, today about 27,000 foreign students study at Belarusian universities. “The number of foreign students rose by several percent compared with last year and two years ago. The number of foreign students is steadily on the rise,” Sergei Kasperovich added.
