MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) - A delegation of the Investigative Committee of Belarus led by First Deputy Chairman Oleg Shandarovich has paid a visit to Uzbekistan, BelTA learned from the Investigative Committee of Belarus.
The working trip started with a visit to the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent. Uzbek colleagues demonstrated information products, spoke about the activities of the department, and got the Belarusian delegation with the material and technical support of the Main Department of Internal Affairs.
The parties discussed cooperation and identified opportunities for expanding areas of further joint work. The participants exchanged information on crimes in specific criminal cases, as well as modern methods and technologies in the activities of law enforcement agencies of both countries. Uzbekistan's experience in establishing a separate department for investigating cybercrimes on the basis of the Main Department of Internal Affairs was studied in detail.
The Belarusian delegation also took part in the international scientific and practical conference “Global Challenges and Threats in Law Enforcement: Modern Strategies and Solutions” organized by the Law Enforcement Academy of Uzbekistan. The forum was attended by more than 150 foreign and national experts in science and education, leading scientists and practitioners of law enforcement, researchers.
Oleg Shandarovich spoke about the ways to improve the Belarusian legislation in the fight against crimes, described the effective measures taken by the agency to prevent crimes in the information sector. Ivan Sudnikovich, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Digital Development of the Preliminary Investigation, spoke about the operation of digital development units in the Investigative Committee of Belarus, shared the extensive experience of the agency in the detection, investigation, prevention of serial cybercrimes committed by transnational organized criminal groups.
The international participants of the conference praised the reports of the representatives of the Belarusian delegation and emphasized the leading position of the law enforcement agencies of Belarus among the CIS countries in terms of countering cybercrime.
During the working meeting with the leadership of the Law Enforcement Academy of Uzbekistan the parties reached an agreement to expand cooperation, to work out a roadmap for the exchange of experience and technologies between the academy and the Investigative Committee of Belarus.
The Belarusian delegation was shown the recently established Institute of Digital Forensics.
The Belarusian delegation met with Deputy Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan Salom Samadov to discuss cooperation in criminal cases, the scope and timing of international legal assistance, and ways to improve and expand cooperation on the exchange of experience and information under the interagency agreement.
A working meeting was also held with the leadership of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan responsible for the investigation of crimes, international cooperation and analytical activities.
An agreement was reached to work out the issue of creating a joint investigative and operational group to conduct parallel investigations in the two countries with regard to the participants of the criminal organization of the international fraud call center, as well as on the development and signing of a cooperation agreement between the Investigative Committee of Belarus and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan on the exchange of experience and information on crimes.
The visit will serve as a new impetus in expanding cooperation between the Investigative Committee of Belarus with interested law enforcement agencies and educational institutions of Uzbekistan.
