CIS plans over 100 cultural events in 2026–2028

MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – A supplementary meeting of the expert group for finalizing and approving the CIS draft plan of main cooperation events in culture for 2026–2028 took place at the CIS headquarters in Minsk on 20 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the CIS Interstate Foundation for Humanitarian Cooperation, and the CIS Executive Committee. The experts reviewed comments and proposals from the countries, finalized, and approved the draft plan of main events. A decision was taken to submit the document in accordance with established procedure for consideration of the CIS Heads of Government Council.

The draft was prepared on the instruction of the Cultural Cooperation Council to implement the Agreement on Cooperation in Culture dated 15 May 1992 and the CIS Cultural Cooperation Concept of 19 May 2011.

The document consists of ten sections and includes 130 international and national events across various areas of cultural cooperation. These pertain to the preservation and use of historical and cultural heritage sites, the safeguarding of intangible historical and cultural heritage and folk art, museum affairs, library, theater, and music, visual arts, cinematography, and also interaction in science, education, and professional training.

The adoption of the document will help create conditions for deepening intercultural dialogue and increase the interest of CIS countries in organizing and conducting joint cultural events.
