CIS countries mull over mutual recognition of COVID-19 vaccination certificates

MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) – The CIS Executive Committee played host to a meeting to discuss mutual recognition of certificates (or other documents) of vaccination against COVID-19 by the CIS member states and the establishment of a council of heads of sanitary and epidemiological services of the CIS member states on 15 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the Executive Committee.

The meeting was initiated by the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry and brought together representatives of ministries and agencies of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The COVID-19 vaccination campaigns in the CIS member states are in full swing, the participants stressed. The countries issue certificates and QR codes for vaccinated persons. Mutual recognition of vaccination certificates will make it easier for vaccinated people to travel in the CIS, facilitate the rebound of tourism, and enable vaccinated people to make personal and business trips.

The participants of the meeting decided to continue looking into this matter.

The agenda of the meeting also included the establishment of a council of heads of sanitary and epidemiological services of the CIS member states within the framework of the CIS Council for Cooperation in Healthcare.
