MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – Minsk has played host to a meeting of the group of experts to coordinate draft CIS programs of cooperation in countering terrorism and extremism for 2026-2028, as well as decisions of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council and the CIS Heads of State Council on the matter, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
Attending the event were experts from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and also representatives of the CIS bodies and employees of the CIS Executive Committee. Taking into account the comments and suggestions received, the experts decided to further elaborate the draft program. The materials of the meeting will be submitted to the CIS states.
The necessity to adopt the program is conditioned by the CIS states' desire to adequately respond to changes in the corresponding operational situation. The goals and objectives of the program are to improve cooperation between the CIS states, charter bodies and cooperation bodies. The measures of the program envisage improvement of organizational and legal mechanisms of cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism, preparation and implementation of joint activities aimed at prevention, detection and suppression of terrorism and extremism, information, analytical and scientific support of CIS member states' activities in the area, development of personnel potential of competent bodies.
