MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) - The information center of the Central Election Commission has opened in the Palace of the Republic in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
The information center will host a meeting of the CIS Advisory Council of Heads of Electoral Bodies and the Youth Tournament Vybor.BY on 24 January. An exhibition dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the CEC of Belarus will be also arranged at the center.
On 25 January, the chairman of the Central Election Commission will hold a press conference on the 2025 presidential election. On 26 January, the center will provide updates on the voting process (at 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, 19:00, 21:00). The regions and the Public Election Observation Center will join the process via videoconference (in line with a separate plan).
On 26 January, the election day, CEC press conferences on the progress of voting will be held at 11.00, 13.00, 15.00, 17.00, 19.00, 21.00.
The Chairman of the CEC Igor Karpenko will hold the press conference to announce the preliminary results of the voting at the presidential election in Belarus on 27 January from 2.30 to 3.00. The final press conference of the CEC to announce the preliminary results of the presidential election in Belarus will start on 27 January at 11.00, which will be followed by briefings of the international observer missions.
Experts, observers and journalists will work in the center. A total of 481 representatives of 25 Belarusian media and 331 journalists from 70 foreign media have been accredited with the information center. Foreign media will be represented by the largest mass media from 23 countries of Asia, Europe, Latin and North America, and the Middle East. Traditionally, representatives of Russian media showed high interest. Both the world's leading media (BBC, Reuters (UK), Al Jazeera (Qatar), China Media Corporation (CCTV and CGTN), TASS, VGTRK (Russia), CNN, Associated Press (USA), AFP (France)) and major regional media (TeleSUR (Venezuela), ZDF, ARD (Germany), EFE (Spain), France Télévisions (France)) sent their applications for accreditation.
The presidential election in Belarus is scheduled for 26 January.
