MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) – Media appearances of presidential candidates will be aired in Belarus starting from 8 January, BelTA has learned.
The Central Election Commission registered five people as candidates for president of the Republic of Belarus: incumbent president Aleksandr Lukashenko, Chairman of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice Aleksandr Khizhnyak, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich, individual entrepreneur Anna Kanopatskaya, and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus Sergei Syrankov. The draw for the date and time of campaign speeches on television and radio took place on 23 December.
The speeches will be broadcast on the First National Channel of Belarusian Radio in the following order:
8 January - Oleg Gaidukevich and Aleksandr Khizhnyak;
10 January - Anna Kanopatskaya and Sergei Syrankov;
15 January - Sergei Syrankov and Anna Kanopatskaya;
17 January - Oleg Gaidukevich and Aleksandr Khizhnyak.
The broadcast time: from 8:00 to 9:00. The duration of the speech: no more than 30 minutes.
The speeches will be broadcast on the Belarus 1 TV channel in the following order:
9 January - Anna Kanopatskaya, Sergei Syrankov, Aleksandr Khizhnyak, Oleg Gaidukevich;
16 January - Aleksandr Khizhnyak, Anna Kanopatskaya, Sergei Syrankov, Oleg Gaidukevich.
Broadcast time: from 18:00 to 20:00. The duration of the speech: no more than 30 minutes.
Presidential candidate, incumbent president Aleksandr Lukashenko refused to make campaign speeches on television and radio.
The campaigning will be running until 25 January. The presidential election in Belarus is scheduled for 26 January 2025.
