BSU to host international environmental congress on 20-21 November

MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) – Belarusian State University (BSU) will play host to the international student environmental congress under the motto “Ideas-Research-Implementation” on 20-21 November, BelTA learned from the BSU press service.

“The event will bring together 150 young ecologists from Belarus, Russia, China, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Congo, and Bangladesh. Belarus will be represented by students and teachers from the BSU, Maksim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University (BSPU), and Vitebsk State Medical University,” the press service said.

The congress will feature offline and online events. The program includes an online research conference on ecologization of the educational process, and scientific research to promote the environmental culture among the modern youth. The conference will feature around 20 presentations in three sections: student environmental research, ecology and education, and international cooperation in environmental issues and ecological culture. A separate section for Belarusian school students will focus on the promotion of an environmentally friendly lifestyle from an early age. Authors of the best presentations in every section will receive prizes from the partners of the event.

The final of the contest “Eco-ideas into life” will also be held on the sidelines of the congress. It will take place in EcoTehnoPark Volma and will feature five teams from the BSU and BSPU. Students will present their ideas on a more sustainable living space, water and air purification, and stimulation of plant growth. The winner will get assistance in putting their idea into practice.

The program of the congress also includes master classes on modern resource- and energy-saving technologies, lectures about the BSU project “Green university” and other initiatives in this field.

The organizers include the BSU Faculty of Chemistry, the BSU Research Institute for Physical and Chemical Problems, the BSU enterprises Unitehprom and Unidragmet, and the teams of the student project Shadow day BSU.
