BelTA called chronographer of Belarus' history

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) - BelTA chronicles Belarus' history, Belarus Information Minister Alexander Karlyukevich said during an official event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian Telegraph Agency BelTA, which was held in the National Library, BelTA has learned.

“Hundreds of news items are generated daily, uploaded to social networks, supplied to printed periodicals. There is much more to your work. BelTA runs a large archive of photos which are used by thousands of those who need to compile the annals of our country. The agency also issues printed periodicals, publishes books, which makes you a solid publishing house. Certainly, this work will stay there for centuries,” Alexander Karlyukevich said.

Congratulating BelTA on its big day, the minister wished its staff “to communicate the policy of peace and good-neighborliness that consolidates us to achieve the humanistic ideals.”

“Today we mark 100 years of the Belarusian Telegraph Agency, the organization which is called the chronicler of the history of our country, the metronome setting the tempo in the information industry of Belarus,” BelTA Director General Irina Akulovich said.

The event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of BelTA was attended by representatives of different ministries and departments. Many representatives of the news agency were honored with diplomas of merit.

BelTA news agency will turn 100 on 23 December. Every day the Belarusian news service records the country's history.
