Belarusian PM attends EAEU meeting in Nesvizh 

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko is taking part in an expanded meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Nesvizh on 4 June, BelTA has learned.

The parties are set to sign documents on cooperation following today's meeting.
On 3 June Nesvizh hosted the meeting in a narrow format. The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council reviewed the EEC annual report on the state of competition in cross-border markets and measures to prevent violations of the general rules of competition in 2023. Development of transport infrastructure in the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union in the East-West and North-South directions, the alignment with China’s Belt and Road Initiative was high on the agenda. Other topics included the status of the plan of priority measures to digitalize freight rail transportation in the EAEU and the measures envisaged in the section "Digitalization of transport corridors" of the plan (roadmap) for the development of trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU and China of 16 February 2023.

The heads of government of the EAEU member states took part in the plenary session "Food Security of the Eurasian Economic Union” at the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. During the meeting, Roman Golovchenko stressed that the countries of the union need to jointly respond to food security challenges. The Belarusian prime minister outlined the tasks for the EAEU in the agricultural industry. Other heads of delegations spoke about the development of the agricultural sector in their states and shared their vision of the EAEU’s prospects in this sector.

The prime ministers also visited the Belagro 2024 international exhibition.
