
MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) - Belarusian MPs will take part in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Uzbekistan, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Belarus Rahmatulla Nazarov in Minsk on 14 March, BelTA learned.
“If we talk about interparliamentary ties in general, they are becoming more regular. On 5-9 April, your country will host the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which unites legislative bodies of 181 countries of the world,” Igor Sergeyenko said. “We are grateful for the invitation from the leaders of the Chambers of the Parliament of Uzbekistan. The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus will take part in the planned events.”

The speaker said that Uzbek friends are always welcome in Belarus. “We have friendship groups in the parliaments of both countries. We believe that the friendship groups should work more actively and contribute to the legislative support of the ongoing projects, to monitor their implementation,” he said.
“We, MPs, support each other in different organizations. Our task at the legislative, diplomatic levels is to promote the friendly ties between our peoples and maintain all those positive trends which have become more pronounced in our relations in recent years,” Igor Sergeyenko added.
