Belarusian joint educational programs popular with foreign students

MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) - Joint educational programs are widely popular, Rector of Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) Sergei Kharitonchik said as he met with the deans of the joint engineering and technical faculty of BNTU-TTU Tohir Majidov and Vyacheslav Lugovoi, BelTA learned from the the website of the Belarusian Education Ministry.

“Belarusian education has always been quite a high bar. A lot of foreigners study at BNTU on a commercial basis, joint programs are very popular. The importance of engineering specialists is growing every year, and people understand that,” said Sergei Kharitonchik.

This faculty is a foreign independent unit at BNTU (launched in 2012), which is a joint department with the Tajik Technical University named after Academician M.S. Osimi (Tajikistan, Dushanbe). Tohir Majidov, Dean of the Engineering and Technical Faculty of BNTU-TTU, arrived in Belarus to accompany the students studying as part the joint educational program.

The joint program runs in Russian language in two stages. The first stage is implemented in TTU in Tajikistan and includes the preparatory Russian language courses and also first-year and second-year programs. The second stage is hosted by BNTU. It involves 3-5-year courses, the thesis defense, the assignment of the appropriate qualification and the issuance of a diploma of higher education in accordance with the Belarusian regulations. After receiving higher education of the first stage, graduates have the right to continue their studies in the magistracy of BNTU.

The rector and the deans of the faculty discussed the joint program, the problems that students and employees face when moving to another country to study or work, life in Belarus and Tajikistan, the similarity of the history of the two states. The BNTU rector lauded an innovative project to develop the Khatyn Museum presented by a student from Tajikistan.
