MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Serbia Sergei Malinovsky and the staff of the Belarusian embassy took part in commemorative events to mark the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade from Nazi invaders, BelTA learned from the Belarusian foreign mission in Serbia.
During the ceremony at the Liberators of Belgrade memorial park, Belarusian diplomats laid wreaths and flowers at the monument, the Eternal Flame, the statue of the Soviet soldier, and at the graves of Soviet soldiers who came from Belarus.
The memory of the soldiers who fell in the liberation of Belgrade was also honored by the leadership of Serbia’s Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy Ministry, the Defense Ministry, representatives of the Armed Forces, the city of Belgrade, a delegation from Moscow, foreign diplomats, numerous representatives of veterans’ and youth organizations, the public, and residents of the Serbian capital.
On the same day, the Belarusian ambassador and diplomats laid a wreath at the Soviet veterans monument on Mount Avala near Belgrade.
