MINSK, 5 August (BelTA) – Upon instructions of the head of state the Belarusian border service is reinforcing the security of the state border, BelTA learned from Anton Bychkovsky, spokesman of the State Border Committee of Belarus.
The official said that the security of the border line had been reinforced. More border patrols have been assigned. Forces and assets have been reassigned from secondary areas to more important ones.
Taking into account the evolving situation the State Border Committee has adjusted procedures for interaction with units of the Defense Ministry and the internal forces of the Internal Affairs Ministry in order to form reserves out of these units.
Lukashenko orders to reinforce border security
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed the law enforcement and security services to to beef up border protection and to prevent border violation cases as he spoke at a meeting to discuss the situation at the border.
