Belarus to toughen control over compliance with COVID-19 safety rules

MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – Control over compliance with the COVID-19 safety measures will be strengthened in Belarus, BelTA informs citing the press service of the Healthcare Ministry.

“All regions of the country will strengthen control over the observance of safety measures. It is wrong to disregard recommendations regarding masks and social distancing,” the press service noted.

The Belarusian public health watchdog is going to step up efforts to investigate each case of the COVID-19 infection and to identify people who might be in close contact with the confirmed case. Public health inspectors will also check whether safety measures are observed at workplaces. Technicians have been tasked with double-checking the operation of all oxygen stations, the availability of test kits, laboratory materials, and medicines.

All regions and Minsk report a gradual increase in coronavirus cases, including severe cases of coronavirus-related pneumonia.

In accordance with the national immunization plan, Belarus continues delivering coronavirus vaccines to its population. As of 12 April, the number of people vaccinated with one dose of the vaccine stood at 129,899, the number of people who received both doses reached 4,688.

The Healthcare Ministry highly recommends that people should seek medical assistance if their physical condition deteriorates, including if they develop fever, cough, shortness of breath, headache, lack of taste or smell.
