MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Uzbekistan Aleksandr Ogorodnikov took part in the international conference “Family and Peace: Traditional Family Values in the Era of Information and Artificial Intelligence Development”. The conference was held at the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office on 29-30 September, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Tashkent.
As part of the event, conference participants laid flowers at the People's Friendship Monument in Tashkent, also known as the Shomakhmudov Family Memorial. During the opening ceremony, Aleksandr Ogorodnikov stated that strengthening the status of the family, promoting traditional values, and supporting motherhood, fatherhood, and childhood are unwavering national priorities for Belarus.
The ambassador outlined the Belarusian comprehensive system of support for families with children. He also emphasized that Belarus places great importance on strengthening international cooperation in the protection of motherhood and childhood, and the preservation of traditional family values. Notably, Belarus, together with Egypt and Qatar, was among the initiators of creating the UN Group of Friends of the Family and continues to put forward constructive initiatives in the area.
The diplomat also highlighted the conference's timely theme, stressing the importance of monitoring destructive trends and narratives that contradict the traditional cultural and family values of our nations, especially in today's era of readily available information and rapidly developing artificial intelligence.
The event included the signing of an international declaration in defense of the family by a number of non-governmental organizations from Uzbekistan. The Belarusian cultural center Svitanak also joined the list of signatories.
