MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) - State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich talked about the situation near the country’s borders and the readiness of the security forces to respond to possible provocations in the latest episode of the project Vremya Pervogo on the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA learned.
“Indeed we are concerned about what is happening outside our country today, about the statements made not so much by political leaders but by our self-exiled opposition about the plans to involve the structures like Kalinovsky's Regiment in relation to our country. We know very well who is fighting on the territory of Ukraine (I mean fighters from among the ranks of the Belarusian self-exiled opposition), who make part of these illegal armed groups, what ideas these people harbor,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.
The state secretary of the Security Council emphasized that these people are geared up towards murder and war: “Of course, we are deeply concerned about these militant groups, their plans and statements regarding the overthrow of power in our country by force.”
Aleksandr Volfovich also drew attention to the growing number of NATO exercises in the West. In addition, there are 15,000 military near the southern borders of Belarus. “The most important thing is the lack of centralized control in Ukraine. After all, Zelensky does not control, in many ways, the situation on the entire territory of his country. Everyone there, excuse me, can make some kind of decision. Someone may decide to cross the state border and stage a provocation. Of course, we're prepared for that. We are monitoring the designs of, let's say, our ill-wishers. We are ready to react and defend our country,” Aleksandr Volfovich assured.
