Belarus-Russia Union State assignments for Slavianski Bazaar at RUB500m over 20 years

MOSCOW, 18 April (BelTA) – For over 20 years since its establishment the Union State of Belarus and Russia has assigned around RUB500 million for the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, Margarita Levchenko, head of the social policy and information support department of the Union State Standing Committee, said at a press conference in Moscow on 18 April.

“We see the festival as one of the most important events in the Union State,” Margarita Levchenko said. “The Union State has been financing the project for over 20 years and has spent more than RUB500 million on interesting show programs at the Slavianski Bazaar festival,” she added.

Margarita Levchenko pointed out that this year celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Union State Treaty and a lot of events have been scheduled, including as part of the festival, to mark the anniversary. According to her, the second day of Slavianski Bazaar 2019 will traditionally be dedicated to the Union State. The program will include a press conference with State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota, social and political patriotic activities, and the evening concert The Union State Invites which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary music band Pesnyary.

In 2019, the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will be held on 8-17 July. An opening ceremony and a gala concert will take place in the Summer Amphitheater on 11 July, and a closing ceremony on 15 July. Additional events are scheduled for 8-10 and 16-17 July.
