MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) - The second day of the visit of the official parliamentary delegation led by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova to the People's Republic of China began with a meeting with Vice President of the People's Republic of China Han Zheng, BelTA has learned.
During the meeting the parties once again stated that China and Belarus are all-weather, all-round strategic partners. “In recent years, under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Aleksandr Lukashenko, China-Belarus relations have demonstrated steady development,” the Chinese vice president said. “I am confident that the official visit will serve as a stimulus for the development of our friendship and cooperation.”
According to Natalya Kochanova, Belarus cherishes and takes pride in its friendship with China. “The history of Belarusian-Chinese relations goes back more than three decades, and over these years the two countries have been building good, friendly relations. Thanks to our leaders, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, our cooperation is all-weather, comprehensive and strategic today,” the speaker said. “China has always been, and will remain a reliable partner for Belarus.”
Today the Belarusian delegation is set to meet with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji and take part in a number of other official events.
The first day of the Belarusian delegation's visit to China was no less fruitful. During the high-level meetings, Natalya Kochanova voiced a number of proposals and initiatives to boost Belarus-China relations.
During the meeting with President of the All-China Women's Federation Shen Yiqin, Natalya Kochanova suggesting setting up the Council of Women of Belarus and China. “We can work more effectively at this level, including addressing the tasks of preserving peace in our countries, as well as considering the women's agenda of Belarus and China,” the speaker said.
Natalya Kochanova also invited the president of the All-China Women's Federation to visit Belarus, which would help determine the future strategy of cooperation between the two countries.
A meeting of the High-Level Committee on Cooperation between the Legislative Bodies of the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of Cina took place on 28 My. The major goals of the committee are to deepen and strengthen relations between the two states, analyze cooperation between the legislative bodies, and to promote proposals and recommendations on cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries in various areas.
Belarus and China cooperate within international and regional organizations. The two countries share the same views on most issues on the international agenda. Belarus expressed gratitude for China's support of Belarus' accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as a full member. “We hope this will happen in July 2024,” Natalya Kochanova said. “We also attach great importance to Belarus joining the BRICS format, an organization that we consider to be one of the most important unifying platforms for global security, sustainable development, and economic cooperation.”
Close attention was paid to the implementation of youth policy, the results of which largely determine the wellbeing and sustainable development of the two states. In particular, Natalya Kochanova suggested organizing a Belarusian-Chinese youth tourist camp. “We have the same view on the importance of cultivating the sense of national pride and patriotism among the youth. In this context, we believe it is crucial to encourage active interaction between youth organizations of Belarus and China,” the speaker added.
The visit of the official parliamentary delegation headed by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova to the People's Republic of China continues, but it is already obvious that it will give a new impetus to the fruitful and comprehensive development of relations between Belarus and China.
