
MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) - The memorandum of understanding between the governments of Belarus and the Federal Republic of Nigeria on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs affairs was signed on the sidelines of the 145th/146th sessions of the WCO Council running in Brussels, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
The parties will now provide mutual assistance in ensuring the proper application of the provisions of customs legislation, the prevention, investigation and control of customs offences and the prompt exchange of information necessary for this purpose.
The parties expressed confidence that the established interaction between the two countries will have a positive impact on the development of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Nigeria.
The document was signed by Chairman of Belarus’ State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky and Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
The starting point of cooperation between the customs services was the meeting in Minsk last year when a joint declaration of intent to cooperate was signed. Experts began active work on the development and coordination of the draft memorandum.
