MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – Minsk Oblast and Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan have signed an action plan for 2026-2027 to implement the previously concluded agreement between Tatarstan’s Government and the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee on trade, economic, scientific, technical, social, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.
The document was signed by Minsk Oblast Governor Aleksei Kushnarenko and Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov during a reception at the Kazan Kremlin.
“Our republic is interested in cooperation with Belarus, especially in mechanical engineering, including aircraft building,” Rustam Minnikhanov noted. In his opinion, cooperation is also promising in information technology.
Aleksei Kushnarenko expressed interest in cooperation in the automotive industry and digitalization. Republic of Tatarstan is an important strategic partner for Minsk Oblast. Over the past five years, trade between the regions has doubled and already exceeded $180 million.
“Cooperation is developing not only at the level of regions and republics, but also in specific localities. During the visit, our town of automotive engineers Zhodino signed an agreement on establishing friendly relations with Tatarstan’s city of automotive engineers Naberezhnye Chelny, which I consider very symbolic. BelAZ also signed a strategic agreement with a number of Tatarstan companies on mutually beneficial cooperation,” the head of the central region noted.
In addition, an agreement was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tatarstan’s City of Naberezhnye Chelny and the Minsk Branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“It is very important that we reached concrete agreements while visiting the KamAZ plant. And the BATE holding company signed a contract worth about 600 million Russian rubles for the supply of components to the KamAZ plant. These are direct steps that will contribute to the development of Tatarstan, Minsk Oblast, as well as Belarus and the Union State as a whole,” Aleksei Kushnarenko added.
