MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – Belarus has established production of firearms and ammunition, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas told reporters on 15 May, BelTA has learned.
Stanislav Zas attended the international defense technology expo MILEX 2019 where firearms were also on display. “The country has launched a new industry – production of firearms and ammunition. We are now working on the legal framework,” the state secretary said.
Simultaneously the country is addressing another complicated task, which is launching the manufacture of final production versions of arms. This task was also set by the head of state. These products were showcased at the MILEX 2019 expo – starting from firearms and ammunition to missile systems. Stanislav Zas noted that the lineup features robotic technology and radioelectronic devices.
MILEX became a prestigious international exhibition venue for defense products manufacturers. The state secretary noted that over half of the participants are companies and organizations representing Belarus. “The domestic products presented here are modern science-intensive and sophisticated machinery and weapons,” he emphasized.
The 9th edition of the international defense technology expo MILEX 2019 kicked off in Minsk on 15 May and will run through 18 May. The exposition is housed at Minsk Arena and the surrounding outdoor area.
In terms of its scope, the composition and the level of participants, the availability of exhibition infrastructure the expo is believed to be one of the largest expos in Eastern Europe.
The organizers are the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus, the Belarusian Defense Ministry, and the national expo center BelExpo.
