MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) Yuri Senko held an online meeting with the representatives of the Friendship Society of China's Sichuan to discuss cooperation in education, tourism, health improvement and sport on 3 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus.
Sichuan is one of the largest provinces in China with a population of over 80 million. The region is actively developing all sectors of the economy, from industry to education. During the online meeting, the Sichuan Friendship Society expressed interest in expanding cooperation with trade unions of Belarus to strengthen people's diplomacy, share best practices and directly cooperate in various areas.
Yuri Senko stressed that the FTUB has everything in place to do so. For example, the parties agreed to expand educational cooperation between the MITSO International University of the FTUB and relevant universities of Sichuan Province. It includes exchange of students and professors and joint educational programs. There is potential and opportunities for this. The center of Chinese language and culture has been set up at MITSO. The university is also a member of the Chinese-Belarusian Association of Universities.
As far as tourism is concerned, the FTUB has developed special programs for tourists from China. Further interaction with representatives of the Friendship Society will promote the tourism between the countries. The parties are also interested in joint work in sport. First of all, it concerns holding joint sports events and sharing advanced coaching practices.
It is planned to cooperate not only at the national but also at the regional level. The parties are discussing the possibility of signing a relevant agreement.
