MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) - Belarusian border guards have started allowing vehicles into the territory of the Brest border checkpoint (Terespol on the Polish side), BelTA has learned.
The State Border Committee of Belarus has received an official notification from the Border Guard of the Republic of Poland about the reopening of the checkpoints on the Belarusian-Polish border that were closed almost two weeks ago. The border checkpoints will start operating from 01:00 on 25 September Belarusian time. Reopening will be the road border crossing points Brest-Terespol and Kozlovichi-Kukuryki, as well as four railway checkpoints: Grodno-Kuźnica Białostocka, Berestovitsa-Zubki Białostockie, Svisloch- Siemianówka, and Brest-Terespol.

In particular, buses arriving at the Brest checkpoint have license plates from various regions of Belarus. There are also those with Polish registration. Private cars are registering in the electronic queue. Belarusian border guards began allowing vehicles into the checkpoint territory at 23.00. People in the queue hesitate to predict how the Polish side will operate, not ruling out that the wait could stretch on for hours.
Customs clearance at the road border checkpoints will also begin in advance to facilitate the prompt departure of vehicles once Poland reopens the border.
