MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – As of 10.00 voter turnout in the presidential election in Belarus totaled 47.56%, Head of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Igor Karpenko told the media in the Information Center, BelTA has learned.
"Today all 5,325 polling stations opened at 8:00 across the country. Polling stations in hospitals, healthcare institutions, some military units did not work on the days of early voting. They work only today. The morning started with the national anthem, the ballot boxes were sealed, the voting process is underway," Igor Karpenko said.
Voter turnout totaled 51.09% in Brest Oblast, 45.87%, in Vitebsk Oblast, 51.16%, in Gomel Oblast, 46.49%, in Grodno Oblast, 45.90%, in Minsk Oblast, 48.79%, in Mogilev Oblast, and 44.39% in the city of Minsk.
