Procedure for switching Belarusian government agencies to war footing improved

MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed a decree on switching government agencies and other organizations to wartime operational conditions, BelTA has learned.

The document improves the procedure government agencies and other organizations are supposed to follow in order to switch from peacetime operation to war footing. The document improves their coordinated and effective interaction in response to the emergence of threats to national security taking into account changes of military and political conditions.

The decree identifies the government agencies the document applies to. In particular, the Belarusian People’s Congress, chambers of the parliament, the Constitutional Court, and the Supreme Court are now covered.

The decree also allows giving military ranks to heads of individual government agencies and a number of organizations when martial law is declared.

The decree is supposed to ensure systemic and uninterrupted operation of the government system at a time of increasing military threat and during a war.
