GRODNO, 6 August (BelTA) – Belarus will not give away a single piece of its land no matter what, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a solemn ceremony to open the Vostochny road bridge across the Neman River on 6 August, BelTA has learned.
According to the head of state, he is always happy to visit Grodno Oblast, the pearl of Belarus. The president decided first of all to address ‘some Grodno residents who did not really understand what Grodno Oblast and Grodno mean for the country'.
“We will not cede this land no matter how hard someone might try to claim it. I have always told Poles living here that this is also their land. You are not welcome over there, Poland has enough issues of its own to deal with. You will see it every year. Therefore, stay here, and keep living peacefully with Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Jews, Tatars. Live in harmony. You can look at other countries but put your interests first, the way they do. They should keep in mind that we will not give away our land to anyone - not even a meter, not even a a centimeter. This is the land of Belarusians, Ukrainians, Poles, Russians, Jews, Tatars and other ethnicities,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The president explained that he was talking about this, because Grodno was destined to become an international city. It regularly hosts multinational festivals, and these holidays are a destination in itself, the head of state said. “This is the way you should live, and I will always support you as much as possible,” the Belarusian leader assured.
