Lukashenko gives interview to China Media Group

MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave an interview to China Media Group (CMG), BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The interviewer was anchor and correspondent Zuo Yun, who specializes in covering international news and political topics.

The interview has been arranged ahead of major international events in China: the SCO summit and the Victory Parade in Beijing. Together with other world leaders, the Belarusian president has been invited to attend these events.

China Media Group is a state-owned enterprise and one of the largest media companies in the world. It reports directly to the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. Its headquarters are located in Beijing.

The company operates 51 television channels, 23 radio frequency bands for domestic broadcasting, and programs in 44 languages for international audiences. As of today, CMG’s media content is available in 143 countries and regions worldwide.

Its audience reach exceeds 1 billion people in China and beyond. Broadcasting is carried out around the clock in five languages, including Russian.

Since October 2022, more than 130 prominent global political leaders have been guests on its programs.

Diplomatic relations between Belarus and China were established on 20 January 1992. Embassies operate in both countries. Belarus has consulates general in the Chinese cities of Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chongqing, as well as in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The president of Belarus has visited the People’s Republic of China 15 times.
