ABU DHABI, 19 December (BelTA) – As he met with Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment, Managing Director of the investment fund ADQ, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned many years of cooperation and the sharing of the best practices with the UAE in the sphere of information technologies, including social networks, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “This is how our first steps, Belarus’ first steps in individual social networks started. Primarily in TikTok. I remember when your specialists (and Chinese ones) invited me to a presentation where they talked a lot about the development of the sphere of high technologies and urged me to assist with the promotion of TikTok in Belarus’ territory.”
Recalling his past visits to the UAE, meetings and presentations concerning the development of the sphere of high technologies, the president noted that Belarus’ accomplishments in the field of information technologies had something to do with the UAE. “I remember that meeting when your specialists and Chinese ones gave me a very serious introduction to this sphere and we started thinking about setting up an IT park in Belarus.”
A presentation on prospects of artificial intelligence was organized for the Belarusian head of state. “We said that this goddamn artificial intelligence will soon capture the entire world. And I put little trust in that. It turns out your specialists were right,” Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked.
