Lukashenko speaks about relations with Putin, Poroshenko, Tokayev

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – At the meeting with Ukrainian journalists on 26 September Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke about relationship with his counterparts from Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, BelTA has learned.

“I have held many talks with newcomers to power, like Kazakhstan President Tokayev. There should be chemistry between people. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and I have great relations, we understand each other very well. He has brilliant education, he learned Chinese in the past. I have exceptional respect for him, though we were also on very good terms with the first president of Kazakhstan,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

In his words, his trust in the current leader of Kazakhstan is extraordinary. The Belarusian leader said he can be absolutely frank with him. “He will not distort my words speaking with someone else. I think your president acts the same way. I will not have forbidden topics or doublespeak with your president,” the head of state said.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, he also has cordial and frank relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I can tell him everything: from personal things to politics. I can be very straightforward with him any time without thinking how it will be perceived. We had brilliant relations with Poroshenko. We could spar back and forth during one meeting. I would say something and he would just shake it off,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
