Lukashenko sends Republic Day greetings to India

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended greetings to President Droupadi Murmu of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the country celebrates Republic Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

In his message of greetings to the president of India, the head of state noted the country’s successes on the international stage and its significant contributions to addressing global challenges, which command deep respect. “Minsk highly values the traditionally friendly bilateral relations with New Delhi, based on the principles of mutual respect,” the president emphasized, pointing to the positive momentum in dialogue with India and readiness to further intensify it.

In his message to the prime minister, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that Republic Day embodies the age-old wisdom of Indian civilization, which serves as a solid foundation for the world’s largest democracy. “The country’s achievements in economic development, innovation, and the social sector command respect and set an example for many states,” the message of greetings reads.

As the country presiding in BRICS, India contributes to strengthening a multipolar and fair world, the president said.

“Belarus is proud of its long-standing friendship with India. I am certain that our trust-based and mutually supportive cooperation continues to progress steadily and acquire new, practical meaning,” the head of state stressed. “I am confident that together, we can fully unlock our significant potential for cooperation in industry, digitalization, agriculture, and security.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed hope for a meeting with Narendra Modi during the BRICS summit.

The Belarusian president wished the president of India good health and success in his state duties, and extended wishes of peace and prosperity to the prime Minister of India and all the friendly people of India.
