Lukashenko reveals reason behind his recent voice problems

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko shared with journalists that recently he had the flu, BelTA has learned.
According to the head of state, he had problems with his voice because of this.

“The self-exiled opposition have already ‘buried’ me,” he remarked.

The journalists pointed out the very sincere speech of the Belarusian president at the final concert of the Marathon of Unity.

“I was sincere in what I said. Sincerity always pays off. This is my policy,” the head of state said. "As for my words that you will be without me, it was about the future. I want to make sure in 2030 everything will be peaceful, because I will not live forever. The self-exiled opposition has already ‘buried’ me, saying that I am dying due to some disease. There is a flu season now. I must have caught the flu at a hockey game. I talk a lot, so I lost my voice.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted: “I am not going to die yet. God willing, I will be as healthy as I have been until now. I do not need more. As for 2030, I know I will not live forever. I can say that I did not want to run for re-election.”

The president emphasized that officials and Belarusians nominated his candidacy for the election.
In the run-up to the election, Aleksandr Lukashenko followed his usual presidential schedule and attended all previously planned events. “But I never urge anyone to vote for me,” he stressed.

The head of state expressed confidence that Belarus will continue to follow the chosen path of development.
