MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) - While making personnel decisions, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko promised to load Aleksandr Subbotin “to the max” in another position. Aleksandr Subbotin left his post as Vitebsk Oblast Governor due to a transfer to another position, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted that many describe Aleksandr Subbotin as a good man, and the president is “absolutely not opposed to that point of view”.

“But, perhaps the time has passed (it was a five-year term, the fifth year, I think), the pressure around him was very serious, and, as Dmitry Nikolayevich [Krutoi, Head of the Belarus President Administration] says, he has burned out. Of course, I don’t agree with such wording. Well, maybe he did burn out. Maybe he felt it probably wasn’t for him. After all, leadership is a very, very tough job. You’re all leaders here, so you know and understand exactly what I mean,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
“Therefore, speaking about Subbotin, I want to say that this person is absolutely not lost for the country. We are planning, and you will find out soon this, to load him to the max, to load him from head to toe. If he has the character, he will manage. This relates to our country’s external affairs and other areas requiring significant effort,” the president explained. “We will attempt to utilize him in a field where he has strong expertise.”
