Lukashenko extends national day greetings to people of Austria

MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended greetings to the people of Austria as they celebrate the national holiday, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"The fateful decision to decalre the eternal neutrality, made 69 years ago, allowed Austria to build a modern state on the principles of peaceful coexistence and good neighborliness," the message reads.

Belarusians, like Austrians, know the true cost of expanding military alliances, uncontrolled arms races, which led to confrontation and unleashed the most terrible and dangerous military conflict of the 20th century. "The same is happening before your eyes today," the head of state said.

"World War II brought much suffering and casualties, and we cannot forget its consequences. Modern politicians and the military need to know history in order not to repeat the mistakes of the past," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. “In 2025, all people of goodwill will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism. I really hope that you will join in the celebration of this important event."

On behalf of the Belarusian people, the president wished all citizens of Austria good health, peace and happiness.
