MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Ukraine should embark on talks with Russia, because it will gain more from it than from the escalation of the conflict and, as a result, the loss in the war, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the media in Minsk on 24 February, BelTA has learned.
The other day Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recorded a video address to the people, in which he said that the country would prevail in the conflict. Aleksandr Lukashenko called the speech of his Ukrainian counterpart emotional, strong, but belated. The Belarusian president noted that before the election, Volodymyr Zelensky promised to stop the war in his country by winning it. But he never kept his promises.
“He believes that by saying so he has mobilized millions of Ukrainians. Here you need to compare your influence on the people and take into account the resources you have to make the statements such as ‘We will beat everyone'. If we take a look at the current moment where Ukraine and all of us are, we will see that those words look ridiculous. No one can beat everyone, especially Ukraine, which is currently in such a state,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
According to the head of state, the Ukrainian authorities must first think about what will happen to the country if it loses in this conflict. “If he understands that he will lose it to the world's second greatest army (or maybe the first one, who knows?), it is better to stop now, halfway through. You will benefit more at this point than when at the end, when you lose this war. These are the rules of the genre,” the president stressed.
