MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has instructed the government to develop clear criteria for assessing the effectiveness of official foreign trips as he met with heads of Belarus’ diplomatic missions in Minsk on 31 July, BelTA has learned.
The president warned the participants of the meeting against what he called “tourist business trips”, stressing that all overseas travel must be justified and yield tangible results.

“We have regressed to the 1990s when everyone traveled the world like tourists. I had to crack down on unnecessary trips back then. Now the Belarus President Administration must thoroughly address this issue again,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The head of state emphasized that every trip should produce concrete proposals, particularly on economic matters. For every country, there is a list of specific economic tasks and investment projects. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must maintain and regularly update this database - not just fill it with meaningless content,” he added.
“Dear friends, we are in wartime conditions today. There is no room for tourist excursions. The government must establish clear evaluation criteria for such trips,” the president said.

The head of state instructed the government to formalize an evaluation system for overseas business trips by the end of August and ensure all relevant parties are properly informed.
