Lukashenko arrives at military parade venue in Beijing

BEIJING, 3 September (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived at the venue for the military parade in Beijing, BelTA has learned.

"Of course, no matter how complicated it may be, we need to be here. I am grateful for being invited to attend the parade. After all, there will be more than thirty heads of state at the parade,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said during a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin the day before.

China is marking the 80th anniversary of its victory over Japanese militarism and the end of World War II. A large-scale parade will take place in Tiananmen Square to commemorate this occasion.

“We are ready to join efforts with all parties to uphold justice, follow the right path, and promote a correct understanding of the history of World War II,” Chinese President Xi Jinping said earlier.

Beijing is set to resolutely defend the achievements of victory in World War II. China will strive to ensure that the outcomes of advancing reforms in global governance and forming an international community with a shared future benefit all of humanity as much as possible.

Heads of state and government from two and a half dozen countries will be present at the large-scale parade.

According to the China Daily newspaper, the ceremony is expected to last 70 minutes. The People's Liberation Army of China will showcase new military equipment equipped with world-class technologies and capabilities. The event will feature new types of battle tanks, carrier-based aircraft, fighter jets, and strategic missiles. The publication states that, in addition to conventional weaponry, the parade will also display drone platforms, anti-drone systems, directed energy weapons, and electronic warfare measures. Among the weapons on display, hypersonic ballistic and cruise missiles are expected to be of particular interest.

According to Xinhua News Agency, an evening gala concert will take place the same day at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
