Belarus president explains his attitude to fake news

MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko explained his attitude to fake information at the meeting with representatives of the Russian media on 14 December, BelTA has learned.

“In the course of time I learned to respond to certain fake news in a calm way,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “But the main thing for me is to realize who benefits from fake news and who spreads such information. I sometimes overreact to certain things in Russian mass media because I understand where it comes from. I am against it. It is much better to say certain things right in the eye or behind closed doors. I am in favor of such politics and against shadow plays.”

The head of state said that he reacts to fake news in the Internet in a calmer way than to such news in traditional media. “Maybe, I am too conservative. Therefore, I have such attitude to books and newspapers,” the president added. “I seldom use the Internet, I don't have enough time, and it is not my goal.”
