Belarus president examines new harvester powered by gas engine fuel

GOMEL, 10 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko examined a new harvester powered by gas engine fuel as he visited the harvester-manufacturing company OAO Gomselmash on 10 August, BelTA has learned.

The head of state was told that the gas engine harvester is slightly more expensive than conventional ones, however, it saves a lot of money by burning a different kind of fuel. The manufacturer believes that the new harvester may sell well in Russia. Apart from that, it is more environmentally friendly. The head of state was assured that there are no problems with the safe operation of the harvester.

Alexander Lukashenko took a close interest in the new product and gave instructions to make several harvesters of the kind before the next harvesting campaign in order to try them out in the field. “We will field the harvesters next year, provide a refueling truck and will see. We should make sure whether it saves money or not,” said the head of state.

The head of state intends to personally verify results of the experiment during the next harvesting campaign. Alexander Lukashenko also remarked he is much in favor of designing vehicles powered by electricity, however, it is a distant future as far as harvesters are concerned, this is why gas engine fuel can become a good alternative from the economic point of view.
